Imagine being so worthy that Thor’s hammer looks at you, looks at Thor, and goes, “Yeah… this horse-faced space Viking seems good too.”
That’s Beta Ray Bill.
Introduced in the cosmic corners of Thor, Bill is an alien warrior from the Korbinite race, engineered into a terrifying cyborg gladiator form to protect his people. He looks like a monster straight out of a heavy metal album cover. Skull face. Cybernetics. Huge silhouette. The kind of dude you expect to be the boss fight.
And then he turns out to be one of the noblest characters in Marvel.
What makes Bill legendary is that he actually lifts Mjolnir. Not steals it. Not hacks it. Not tricks it. Lifts it. Worthy, full stop. Thor doesn’t even get mad, he respects him so much that Odin forges Bill his own hammer, Stormbreaker. Which is the most “welcome to the club, brother” moment imaginable.
Fans love Beta Ray Bill because he’s peak contrast. Looks like a nightmare. Acts like a paladin. Soft-spoken, honorable, ride-or-die heroic. Absolute gentle giant in apocalypse armor.
