Tomura Shigaraki is one of My Hero Academia’s central villains, a destructive young leader who wants to tear down the hero society surrounding him. Introduced as volatile, impatient, and visibly unstable, he grows into an increasingly dangerous force capable of giving scattered villains a shared direction.

His Quirk, Decay, turns physical contact into destruction. What begins as a terrifying close-range ability develops alongside Shigaraki himself, but the basic threat never changes: anything within his reach may crumble. The power fits him with alarming precision. Shigaraki does not want to control a broken system or win its approval. He wants to reduce it to dust.

His earliest iconic appearance is difficult to mistake. Pale and disheveled, dressed in dark clothing, and covered in preserved hands, Shigaraki looks like someone being physically dragged down by a history he cannot escape. The hand over his face hides much of his expression, making every glimpse of his red eyes and furious scratching feel even more unnerving. Later appearances change the silhouette, but not the identity underneath it.

Shigaraki becomes compelling because his hatred is not static. He learns, gathers allies, survives failures, and grows from a dangerous intruder into a genuine counterforce to the heroes. His cause remains horrifying, but it is not empty theatrical evil. It is rage aimed at a society he believes rejected people like him, sharpened into the conviction that if the world cannot be repaired, destruction will have to do.
