Minoru Mineta is the tiny, grape-headed wild card of U.A. High School’s Class 1-A. Training under the hero name Grape Juice, he desperately wants the popularity and admiration that come with being a professional hero. Unfortunately, courage, dignity, and good judgment do not always arrive at the same time.

Mineta’s Pop Off Quirk lets him remove the sticky purple spheres growing from his head and attach them to people, objects, or surfaces. They are remarkably difficult for anyone else to remove, while Mineta can bounce from them without becoming stuck. What initially looks like a deeply unserious superpower becomes an effective tool for traps, restraints, obstacles, rapid movement, and surprisingly clever battlefield improvisation.

Cowardice and crude behavior are real parts of Mineta’s personality. He boasts when danger is theoretical, panics when it becomes immediate, and frequently gives his classmates excellent reasons to lose patience with him. Yet reducing him to those failures misses the contradiction that keeps him interesting. Mineta is observant, resourceful, and capable of building smart strategies around an ability nobody would mistake for conventionally heroic.

When circumstances become serious, he can force himself past fear and prove that his place at U.A. is not entirely accidental. Mineta may want the rewards of heroism before mastering its responsibilities, but every genuine act of courage moves him slightly closer to becoming the cool hero he originally imagined.
