Suguru Geto

Suguru Geto is what happens when the smartest guy in the room slowly decides the room isn’t worth saving.

Introduced in Jujutsu Kaisen as a top-tier sorcerer and classmate of Gojo, Geto starts out as one of the good guys. Calm, thoughtful, philosophical, the kind of person who actually cares about protecting normal people. Back in their student days, yeah… he and Gojo really were best friends. Riding around town, taking missions, causing trouble. The moped energy? Canon. Buddy cop vibes all day.

Which is exactly why what happens next hurts.

What makes Geto fascinating is the fall. After seeing too much cruelty, too many sacrifices, too much pointless suffering, his worldview cracks. Hard. Instead of protecting humanity, he begins to resent it, believing sorcerers shouldn’t have to suffer for people who can’t even see curses. That twisted logic turns him from idealist to extremist real fast.

Fans love Geto because he isn’t evil for chaos’ sake. He’s tragic. You can see every step that leads him there. He’s the philosophical mirror to Gojo, same talent, same intelligence, totally different conclusion about the world. Hero and villain born from the same starting line.

The Gojo/Geto friendship is one of the emotional cores of the series’ backstory. Their split is basically a “what if Superman and Lex Luthor started as roommates” situation, which explains why fans both love and fear every scene they share.
