Cell is a biological nightmare engineered with one spectacularly unhealthy goal: become perfect.

Created from the cells and combat data of extraordinary fighters including Goku, Piccolo, Vegeta, Frieza, and King Cold, Cell inherits abilities from warriors who were never consulted about becoming ingredients. That gives him access to familiar techniques, remarkable regeneration, and an instinctive understanding of combat before his own evolution even enters the conversation.

That evolution drives his story. Cell begins in a monstrous First Form, absorbing life energy to increase his strength while hunting Androids 17 and 18. Absorbing them allows him to transform again, eventually reaching the sleek Perfect Form he considers his destiny. Imperfect Cell, Semi-Perfect Cell, Perfect Cell, and the later powered-up version are not separate Characters. They are stages of the same increasingly confident disaster.

His personality evolves almost as dramatically as his body. Early Cell behaves like a predator working toward a goal. Perfect Cell becomes theatrical. He wants opponents worthy of his power, creates the Cell Games to prove his superiority, and treats mass destruction like an audience participation event.

That arrogance is part of what makes him such an enduring Dragon Ball villain. Cell is not satisfied with being powerful. He needs everyone else to recognize his perfection, preferably shortly before he demonstrates it at catastrophic volume.
