Wolverine spends an enormous amount of his life trying to control the animal inside him.
Victor Creed thinks that's a waste of a perfectly good animal.
Better known as Sabretooth, Creed is one of the X-Men's most dangerous recurring enemies and the longtime nemesis of Wolverine. He's a feral mutant equipped with heightened senses, tremendous physical strength, claws, fangs, and a regenerative healing factor that makes getting rid of him considerably harder than everyone would prefer.
And Sabretooth knows exactly how dangerous that makes him.
He's a hunter, mercenary, assassin, and predator who doesn't merely possess violent instincts...
He enjoys using them.
That's an important distinction because Sabretooth isn't some mindless beast stumbling from one attack to another. Victor can be patient, cunning, manipulative, and horrifyingly deliberate. His heightened senses make him an exceptional tracker, his healing factor allows him to survive extraordinary punishment, and his experience means he knows how to turn both advantages into a very bad afternoon for whoever he's hunting.
Particularly Wolverine.
The two make such natural enemies because their similarities expose the enormous difference between them. Both are ferocious combatants. Both possess animalistic abilities and remarkable healing. Both have histories steeped in violence.
But Logan spends much of his life fighting to prove that those things don't determine what kind of man he has to become.
Sabretooth generally responds:
Why not?
Their feud has become one of Marvel's nastiest rivalries because Sabretooth knows how to make violence personal. He's not satisfied merely to defeat Wolverine. Victor likes finding the wounds that don't regenerate quite so easily.
Sabretooth has occasionally worked alongside heroes, joined teams when circumstances demanded it, and occupied more complicated territory than a simple monster-of-the-week villain.
But nobody should confuse cooperation with domestication.
You can put Sabretooth on the same side.
That doesn't mean you should turn your back on him.
