Dagger

Dagger is Tandy Bowen, the light-wielding Marvel superhero whose powers and identity are deeply connected to her longtime partner, Cloak.

Tandy begins as a teenage runaway who crosses paths with Tyrone Johnson. After the pair are subjected to experimental drugs, both survive with extraordinary abilities: Tyrone becomes Cloak, linked to darkness and the Darkforce Dimension, while Tandy manifests brilliant psionic light. Marvel describes the pair as “Light and Darkness incarnate,” and their powers become as complementary as their partnership.

As Dagger, Tandy can generate luminous energy and shape it into the light daggers that give her superhero identity its name. Her abilities can harm enemies, illuminate darkness, and counteract the hunger associated with Cloak’s powers. That connection has kept Cloak and Dagger intertwined through years of stories involving street crime, organized crime, other superheroes, and threats far stranger than anything two runaway teenagers reasonably signed up for.

Tandy can absolutely stand on her own.

But Cloak and Dagger are one of those Marvel partnerships where understanding either character gets easier once the other enters the room.

Light needs somewhere to shine.

Fortunately, Tyrone brought plenty of darkness.
