Ao Gennai is the cheerful human heroine at the center of the Frame Arms Girl anime, an ordinary high school student whose life becomes considerably less ordinary when a mysterious package containing the tiny robot girl Gourai arrives at her home.

Ao begins with almost no knowledge of Frame Arms Girls, model kits, or the increasingly strange world that has just landed in her room. What she does have is curiosity, an expressive personality, and a willingness to roll with circumstances that rapidly expand from “unexpected delivery” to “multiple miniature artificial girls now live here.”

Her relationship with Gourai becomes the emotional center of the story. Ao helps the initially inexperienced Frame Arms Girl encounter everyday life, friendships, competition, and feelings, while Gourai’s arrival pulls Ao deeper into a hobby and community she barely understood at the beginning.

Ao attends Wakaba Girls’ High School, and her school uniform is one of her most recognizable looks. Kotobukiya later brought that appearance into its Sousai Shojo Teien model-kit line as part of a crossover with Frame Arms Girl.

She may be surrounded by heavily armed tiny robots.

Ao’s real superpower is somehow making that feel like a domestic situation.
