WHY THIS RULES:

The Hi-Nu Gundam is already one of the more elaborate mobile suit designs in the Universal Century, and the Real Grade treatment leans hard into that mechanical complexity. Bandai’s multi-link gimmick lets sections of armor slide as the joints move, exposing the inner frame and making the articulation itself part of the visual experience. The fin funnels can also spread into a wing-like silhouette, giving the finished model a much broader presence than a typical 1/144 kit.

Because this is RG 1/144, the appeal is not raw size so much as density: a compact model with engineering that behaves more like a larger premium kit. The waist, legs, arm beam gun, nape area, and fin-funnel system all include articulation or linked movement designed to preserve aggressive posing. Beam rifle, New Hyper Bazooka, shield, three saber hilts with two blades, multiple hands, and realistic decals round out a build that rewards collectors who like both mechanical detail and display flexibility.

WHAT IT'S GOT:

Real Grade multi-link engineering

Armor panels slide in response to joint movement, revealing mechanical inner-frame detail while the model is posed.

Wing-like fin funnel display

The funnel containers can spread the fin funnels into a broad silhouette, and Advanced MS Joint parts help hold firing configurations.

Full weapon loadout

Includes beam rifle, New Hyper Bazooka, shield, three beam saber hilts, two saber blades, and multiple interchangeable hands.

1/144 scale with premium density

The compact RG format packs in articulation and linked mechanics normally associated with larger or more premium builds.

RG 1/144 Hi-Nu Gundam - Model Kits - Gundam

Hi-Nu Gundam is Amuro Ray’s formidable mobile suit from Beltorchika’s Children, instantly recognizable by its striking design and array of fin funnels.

Hi-Nu Gundam

Hi-Nu Gundam is the imposing mobile suit associated with Amuro Ray in Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack - Beltorchika’s Children, bringing a distinctive blue-and-white interpretation of the Nu Gundam concept to one of the Universal Century’s most famous rivalries.

Its silhouette carries familiar Gundam hallmarks, but the sweeping fin funnels mounted behind it immediately give Hi-Nu its own presence. Those remote weapons can be deployed away from the mobile suit, turning the space around it into part of its arsenal. Combined with beam weaponry, a shield, bazooka systems, and the machine’s Newtype-oriented technology, they make Hi-Nu look every bit like a machine built for the final stages of an arms race.

Hi-Nu Gundam is closely associated with Beltorchika’s Children, the alternate novel treatment of Char’s Counterattack. That origin gives it an unusual place in Gundam history, recognizable beside the standard Nu Gundam while remaining a distinct design with its own long-running collectible following.

And what a following it has earned. Hi-Nu has appeared across Gunpla grades, premium figures, games, and other Gundam merchandise, where those enormous funnels continue making shelf-space negotiations considerably more interesting.

For collectors, Hi-Nu Gundam offers a particularly satisfying combination: Amuro Ray history, Universal Century engineering, and a design that somehow makes six giant pieces of equipment hanging off the back look perfectly reasonable.

Gundam blends giant robot action with serious storytelling about war, politics, and humanity. Fans love its iconic mobile suit designs, emotional depth, and evolving timelines. It’s thoughtful, epic, and endlessly influential.

Gundam

Gundam is giant robots with something to say. It’s massive mecha battles wrapped around stories of war, politics, loss, and the human cost of conflict. Fans love Gundam because it treats its robots as tools of war, not toys, and its pilots as people shaped by the chaos around them. From Amuro and Char’s rivalry to the shifting eras of the Universal Century and beyond, every timeline brings its own weight, style, and spark.

The franchise thrives on contrast. Sleek mobile suits clash in zero gravity while quiet conversations about duty, trauma, and survival unfold between battles. Some series lean tragic, some hopeful, some deeply philosophical, but all of them carry that unmistakable Gundam DNA. Newtypes, Earth vs space tension, ace pilots, mass produced units, and iconic designs give the universe a sense of scale that feels both epic and personal.

What makes Gundam timeless is its honesty. It never pretends war is clean or simple. It lets heroes fail, villains make sense, and machines become symbols of the people inside them. It’s mecha storytelling with soul.

Gunpla RG kits deliver incredible realism and detail at a compact 1/144 scale. Featuring advanced engineering and layered armor, these builds reward patience with stunning results. Small in size, massive in impact.

Gunpla RG (Real Grade)

Gunpla RG, or Real Grade, is Bandai Spirits’ answer to one big question: what if a small Gundam kit had the detail and realism of a much larger build? RG kits pack an incredible amount of engineering and visual complexity into a compact 1/144 scale, blending the size of HG with the sophistication of higher-end grades. The result is a line that feels dense, technical, and wildly impressive once completed.

The defining trait of RG kits is realism. These models feature intricate surface detail, layered armor separation, and advanced inner frame systems that mimic how a real machine might be constructed. Builds are more involved than HG, with smaller parts and tighter tolerances, but the payoff is huge. Once assembled, RG kits are fully poseable and visually striking, often looking like miniature Master Grade models shrunk down without losing character.

Within the Gunpla ecosystem, RG occupies a very specific and beloved niche. It’s the choice for builders who want maximum detail without committing to the size of MG kits. For Mythical Mountain fans, RG represents precision, patience, and that satisfying moment when you step back and realize how much detail you just packed into a small footprint.
