Rubeus Hagrid is Hogwarts’ giant-hearted gamekeeper, Keeper of the Keys, and Care of Magical Creatures professor, a half-giant whose intimidating size is matched only by his softness toward creatures everyone else considers terrifying.
Hagrid is one of the first people to show Harry genuine kindness. He brings Harry into the wizarding world, tells him he belongs at Hogwarts, and becomes a steady father figure throughout the years that follow. Official Harry Potter material describes him as physically imposing but deeply soft-hearted, especially when animals and magical creatures are involved.
That affection is occasionally a tactical problem.
Hagrid sees potential companions where other people see dragons, giant spiders, Blast-Ended Skrewts, and insurance claims. Yet the same instinct reflects his broader character: he consistently looks past appearances, remains fiercely loyal to his friends, and believes people and creatures deserve a chance before they deserve judgment.
He is brave, sentimental, terrible at secrets, and almost impossible not to trust.
Especially after he says something he definitely should not have said.
