Kamen Rider Black RX is the evolved hero identity of Kotaro Minami, born when the powers of Kamen Rider Black are destroyed and the King Stone within him is energized by the light of the sun.

After defeating Gorgom, Kotaro attempts to build a peaceful life, only to face a new invasion from the Crisis Empire. Captured, stripped of his transformation ability, and thrown into space, he survives when solar energy reaches the King Stone and transforms his damaged power into something new.

The result is Black RX, the “Child of the Sun.”

RX carries the light-powered Revolcane and battles the Crisis Empire with abilities that expand far beyond his original form. The series also gives him two additional transformations, Robo Rider and Bio Rider, making him an important early example of the multiple-form concept that later became a major Kamen Rider tradition.

What remains constant is Kotaro himself. Black RX is still the same determined hero who survived the war against Gorgom, now carrying that fight into a brighter, stranger, and much more explosive chapter.

A destroyed transformation system should probably count as a setback.

Kotaro apparently considered it an upgrade opportunity.
