Dorry

Dorry, known as the Blue Ogre, is an enormous warrior of Elbaf and one of the captains of the Giant Warrior Pirates in One Piece. Alongside his friend and fellow captain Brogy, he represents the pride, strength, and wonderfully unreasonable commitment to honor associated with Elbaf’s legendary warriors.

When the Straw Hat Pirates encounter Dorry on Little Garden, he and Brogy have been fighting each other for a century. The original argument has faded into irrelevance, but the duel continues because neither giant is willing to abandon the warrior’s pride behind it. Their clashes have become part battle, part ritual, and part friendship expressed at extremely unsafe volume.

Dorry is cheerful and welcoming outside combat, but his good humor never diminishes the seriousness with which he treats honor. That combination makes him much more than simply a very large pirate. His friendship and rivalry with Brogy turn the pair into one of One Piece’s earliest demonstrations of just how strange, sincere, and enormous the wider world can become.

The two captains also possess the strength to match their reputations. Dorry fights with a sword and shield, and together the giants can unleash attacks on a scale appropriate for men who regard century-long duels as unfinished business.

A hundred years is a long time to hold a grudge.

Fortunately, friendship seems to have survived just fine.
